Joomla is very powerful when you consider the amount of extensions available for it. If a client doesnt know what they want I will push joomla.

Hi Chris, thanks for the kind words! See, we’ve been so pleased with the 3 aforementioned CMS’s in this article that we haven’t felt the need to try other ones yet. However, when we have some free time, we’ll definitely give Joomla! a glance. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard good things about it.

I’m actually a Joomla! guy too, but won’t hold any grudges; you guys are doing great work here.
Using Joomla!, one of about three free templates, FireFox & Firebug, and any old text editor (I just happen to own Dreamweaver, so I use that), I can create totally custom sites for pretty much any client at least as fast, if not faster, then plain XHTML and Dreamweaver. Oh, in fairness I need Photoshop too, but I assume that is assumed.
Any client who can’t be convinced on a CMS is not worth your time, unless you really like getting e-mails day and night asking you to change their phone number on their contact page, or announce their dog’s birthday. Which, I suppose, is honest work, but hardly gets the creative engine revving…..

I’m a pretty big fan of typo3 (see http://typo3.org). It is extremely flexible and it offers tons and tons of options. I’d never even heard of it until I was looking at a job board and I noticed that Full Tilt Poker was hiring people who “were experienced typo3 developers”. I’ve since experimented with it a few times and I’ve found it to be really incredible.

That being said, it always seems like I go back to WordPress because of its simplicity.

Another WCMS I’d highly recommend- especially if you’re a designer- is ModX. We LOVE building ModX sites, much more than Drupal.

The use of static websites are fairly limited now a days. One wonders why anyone would not need a CMS. As we are talking about CMS,Joomla deserves a mention. It is powerful and easy to use. It is not just a system but a powerful framework for developing almost any type of powerful web application.
