If your visitors can’t easily find what they want on your site, they’re leaving. Is your website a mess? Straightening things up isn’t as hard as it may seem.

Who Likes a Messy Office? (Tim Jahn)

Tim | Monday, March 9th, 2009 Post a comment

Chances are prospective customers are going to check out your website before anything else about you.  It’s important that your website is just as inviting as your office. Is the place a mess?

Take a look at how your site is organized. Your visitors need to be easily guided through their visit. If they get lost, they’re leaving. And they probably won’t come back.

Are you speaking gibberish?  Look over your site copy.  Strip out all unnecessary text and nonsense.  Look at your site copy again.  Strip out some more unnecessary text.  Your customers don’t have time to listen to you babble on.  Get to the point so you can get down to business.

Can your visitors find you?  When someone walks into your office, you probably have someone available immediately to help them.  Your website is no different.  Put your contact information somewhere extremely visible. Your visitors shouldn’t have to wander around your site looking for you.

Does the place look nice?  People probably wouldn’t visit your office if it looked like a dump.  Your website is no different.  Think about how your site is designed and decorated.  It matters a lot.

If you have any doubts about anything, simply ask yourself if you would visit your site in its current state.

Would you?
