The use of static websites are fairly limited now a days. One wonders why anyone would not need a CMS. As we are talking about CMS,Joomla deserves a mention. It is powerful and easy to use. It is not just a system but a powerful framework for developing almost any type of powerful web application.

This is simply amazing. I really liked the part you say "new school" because many studios just label WCMS bad, restrict and unusable, when in fact WCMSs are exactly the opposite: good, flexible and super-usable. Their main argument, and the one that kept me not using CMSs for a long time, is CMSs limit their creation in terms of graphical design. I agreed with them until I found myself tweaking through new templates and discovering that, past the learning curve, you produce much faster and happyer. Even fresh born studios glance down to CMSs as bad amounts of open-source code trying to ruin their work. Coders claim CMS steal their function, nothing more erroneous. They should see CMS as an opportunity to develop modules, tweaks, componentes instead of denying it. I am working on a integration module between midomi.com and a Joomla website of mine to promote Brazilian versions of Broadway musicals and I can say I'm much more focused on what' important (core module) than content, visual, workflow, because THAT I leave for Joomla to be done.

Joomla! is certainly no slouch, but as you said:

<blockquote>there are 100's of CMS options out there, and you can't highlight them all</blockquote>

We just picked three of the best...which also happen to be our favorite.

We're glad that you enjoyed the article, and hope that you won't hold a grudge against us for leaving out Joomla! this time around.

Great article.

Although I confess the argument could be made that there are 100's of CMS options out there and you couldn't highlight all, I am still surprised you include Drupal but not Joomla!.
