Every now and then there comes along a chance to give back to the community, our clients, and mankind in general. When CareToLive asked us to build a website which would give their advocacy group the ability to spread the word about their cause - to fight for the immediate approval of safe and effective cancer treatments - we felt compelled to help them.
After exchanging numerous e-mails with Rory and the other volunteers at CareToLive, we put together a solid game plan: The guys at Chromatic Sites knew that the best way to spread the word about CareToLive's fight would be to use a blog, RSS feeds, and social networking sites. Not only would this strategy help spread their word like wildfire, but it would also help them build a larger reader base (which would eventually lead to more people joining their group). We assured CareToLive that maintaining the website would be a piece of cake and that they would be able to easily post articles, as often as they'd like.
We began the process by creating easy to understand flowcharts and static wireframes to give CareToLive (and Chromatic Sites) a solid idea as to how the website would be structured. The design process took longer than usual since we had to work around CareToLive's logo. That's ok; we like challenges. After numerous revisions, CareToLive and Chromatic Sites finally agreed upon a design. We broke it down into XHTML and CSS and in no time the design was live.
Then we needed a customizable blogging platform which would allow us to make our blogging dreams for CareToLive a reality. There was only one real solution - WordPress. WordPress's customizable open source code allowed us to successfully weld together everything that was needed for CareToLive.
In a very short period of time, Chromatic Sites took the need for a new, basic website, put on their thinking caps, and created a professionally designed, customized WordPress blog and website. We also integrated CareToLive's RSS feed with Feedburner's brilliant feed-burning utility which essentially notifies dozens of blogging networks each time CareToLive posts an entry on their blog.
Soon after we finished CareToLive's website, one of their articles was featured on the front page of Digg (due primarily to the fact that the website was just converted to a blog). Nearly 3,000 visitors came to CareToLive's website that day. In the past, the average was between 50 - 100 unique visitors a day. You can imagine how excited the volunteers at CareToLive were when they saw this - and to be honest, we were excited too. Viva la blogging!
"Chromatic Sites has a team of consummate professionals and were a pleasure to work with. What I like best about them is their ability to be open and flexible to meet my needs and allow me to express my ideas. In addition, they provided plenty of their own concepts and delivered a website with cutting edge technology. I felt comfortable working with the Chromatic Sites team. I am not very savvy in this area and I was able to leave those parts I was unsure of up to them, and am very happy with the outcome. Chromatic Sites dedication to their profession and desire in pleasing the consumer makes for a winning combination."
