One of the first things that James Coury, founder of James Fitness, said to us was:
"I want your website!"
We informed James that although we couldn't give him our website, we could include elements from our website and combine them with elements from other websites that he liked. He compromised with us and provided some additional examples of websites that caught his eye. The fun was about to begin.
James' previous website wasn't bad - not as bad as some of our other clients' websites have been; however, it wasn't perfect. The color scheme was too dark. When we think fitness, we think energy. When we think energy, we think bright orange, bright blue, and white. James' previous website had only a little orange in the logo and was dominated by darker shades of gray. This didn't allow for much contrast and made reading the text somewhat difficult. The layout also needed better organization. It needed the Chromatic Sites' organizational treatment.
After working closely with James via Basecamp and phone, we completely redesigned his website, resulting in a much bolder, brighter, and more appealing website. The website was also much more usable. If you've read any of our articles, then you know how much we stress the importance of having a usable website. Not only is the website easily navigable thanks to the simple navigation bar, breadcrumbs, submenus on all of the secondary pages, and hyperlink filled footer, but the content on all of the pages is laid out in a carefully designed manner. Try to get lost on James' website; we dare you.
In addition to coding the website with site-wide valid XHTML and CSS, we also included a generous amount of jQuery programming to allow for simple, non-obtrusive animations. For example, click the "Ask James" link at the top of any web page to see an example of jQuery's capabilities. jQuery is the future of web development and we used a lot of it on JamesFitness.com.
Since James wanted to sell workout packages and nutritional supplements to his clients and website visitors online, we seamlessly integrated an E-Commerce store into his website.
Oh yeah - not one, not two, but three different WordPress blogs were integrated into James' website giving him the ability to publish niche specific articles related to fitness, health, and personal training. With three different blogs, let's just say that James has a lot of writing ahead of him.
Finally, James wanted to dominate his competition and although his website is now much better than his competitors' websites, there is still room for improvement in his search engine rankings. We are currently in the process of a search engine optimization campaign for his website and look forward to helping James Fitness outrank the competition and ultimately grow into an even bigger, more successful personal training company.
If you live near Irvine, California, stop by James Fitness and as James likes to say, "get your butt-kicked".
"The main goals of a website are to get traffic, and create leads, Chromatic Sites is absolutely #1. Showing up in Google and having a great looking website at the same time is extremely rare to find. The speed and clarity of communication is amazing! Comparing over a dozen previous web design teams for my company, finally Chromatic Sites truly gets it. I could not ask for more. Matt has exceeded my expectations in every way. He and his team have a true dedication to the task. These guys are amazing!!!"
